Celebrating 10th Anniversary of
Mike Melvill & SpaceShipOne
going into SPACE!
Mike Melvill piloted SpaceShipOne on its first flight past the edge of space, (100 kilometers or 62 miles) Flight 15P on June 21, 2004, becoming the first commercial astronaut and the 434th person to go into space.
He was also the pilot on Flight 16P, which was the first competitive flight in the Ansari X-Prize competition!
Mike and his supportive, loving wife, Sally, have two sons and four grand-children. They are both active in the Tehachapi Pilots Society and enjoy flying and retirement!
Mike will speak at 11 a.m. in the
Mojave Air & Spaceport Board Room
Everyone is welcome to stroll through Legacy Park where replicas of SpaceShipOne
and a large RC model of Voyager are on display.
This is a historical aircraft display day and free family ‘educational’ event –
kids are especially welcome!
Local area pilots will display their unique one-of-a-kind and historic aircraft!
Fly in and display your aircraft and enjoy visiting with people who speak aviation!
Walk in traffic enter through Voyager Restaurant.
Bring your camera, take lots of photos and visit with some of Mojave Airport’s famous pilots!
Wen Painter will be on hand in the Voyager Restaurant to sign Tax-exempt forms for pilots!
